LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 525 Sunday 9th February 2025.
Cold and damp but maybe not quite as cold as it was the last couple of days but we were out, this weeks group of rides headed out to Ledbury area so it was going to be a bit lumpy.
We set out in 2 groups an Advanced and intermediate leaving the club along the 417 we split from the Advanced as we turned through Lowbands village on a little loop off the main road back to playley green and the climb up into Redmarley if we weren’t warm before we were now Adrian setting the pace pulling us along to Bromsberrow where it started to drizzle so wet coats were put on. Ken showing us his secret pocket for his energy bar after last weeks efforts trying to eat it pulling it out and nearly dropping it again but his ninja reflexes caught it before it hit the ground. We pushed on through Greenway and Leddingtin where the road in places was missing so it was a relief to turn off towards Lilly hall lane on a newly tarmaced road leading us on the undulating road through to Ledbury town, and we climbed up to the lights at the top of town the rain now easing as we climbed out of town up to Cut Throat lane keeping us off the main road. Eastnor castle next and that streatch of road which shakes your fillings down to the woodshed and now the climb of Holybush which we all managed very well, a drink at the top before we rode along the side of Holybush to Castlemorton common and we descended all the way to Castlemorton church and past the Farmets arms where Adrian was tempting us saying what bice soup roll and a pint they served, I think he was testing our resolve but we all passed and soon Birtsmorton was behind us and Adrian pulled us along to Pendock where he and Chris made a break for home and we weren’t far behind knowi g the tea would be ready. We said goodbye to Ken at the cross and made it back to the club to join everybody for a brew. Aileen Gill and Di had been out in the Scenic ride which was a little eventful, Dis gears were playing up and she had a puncture but was escorted home and getting it sorted this week.
Thanks to all who rode and helped out today, cold wet but we did it and it felt good.
Yellow leader.
