LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 527 Sunday March 2nd.
The sun was out not a cloud in the sky but the birdbath was covered in ice so I knew it was a bit chilly as the birdbath bath doesn’t lie, but the forecast was for the temp to rise so as long as we were careful we would be ok.
So with the urn on we were away Steve joining us on an intermediate ride as we welcomed back Brian knight joining us after a little lay off, so we left Orridge street and Middletown lane behind us a few minor ice patches just kept us on our toes but soon through Newent and Watery lane and the first climb up the Connigree lane which warmed us up soon we were on the Ross rd a busy stretch before the quieter rd to Aston ingham, the winter really has taken its toll on our roads I don’t think I have ever had to point out dangers on the roads to others which helps make group riding safe, but soon we were into the beautiful Barrell lane sometimes a little rough and muddy but overall not too bad Ken requesting a pit stop at the top of Barrell lane, which involved a sticky snack a drink and a disrobe of his jacket now feeling the full force of the March sunshine, Steve and Maggie wondered where we were but we were soon all together to the A40 where Steve left us, to dash home, leaving us to drop down church lane through Longhope to Velthouse lane another scenic lane through the woods to Blaisdon where we dropped down past the Red Hart and wound our way up to Northwood green the views across the Severn valley, but no time for views as we pushed on and climbing up to Huntley past the cricket club, straight through the village and Solomons tump following the Huntley rd back to Tibberton, where I thought Brian would call in home but he never he continued with us which must have took some doing, I wasn’t look g before we were in Blackwell’s End lane as we got to the end of it the Sporty boys shot past us knowing we had chocolate biscuits at the club I think the pace lifted to make sure the sporty boys didn’t eat them all but not to worry Di and Aileen had them safely hidden.
First day we had dry roads, no wind and the sun shone anyone would think spring was on its way.
Thanks to all who rode and helped out today.
Yellow leader.
