Ride 528 Sunday 9th March 2025

LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 528 Sunday 9th March 2025.

Two Sunny Sundays on the trot only this week we has no ice on the bird bath and the shorts were out, not sure that was the right decision but it seemed the right thing to do.

Owen and Andy set off on the sporty ride leaving the rest of us including Wayne who was out for the first time in a while to do the Advanced , we followed the sporty group into Ashleworth and along the Ham to Tirley where Chris was waiting for us, and he soon got up to speed through Forthampton where we split as the group was rather large so Wayne,Steve Stuart and Maggie led us to Tewkesbury and up the Mythe to Church lane but no sight of the front group which was probably for the best considering the size of the group. Puckrup and Ukinghall a lovely village we hadn’t visited for a while, very quiet with just a few horses to hinder our progress but they were all very well behaved meaning we crossed the A38 and the little loop off the main rod to Ryall by the Blue Bell inn. Upton next and the town busy in the sunshine as we turned past Clive’s Fruit farm which has a good coffee stop if ever you need one.

Upper Hook lane through the fruit trees past the steam rally fields to the Welland road now the long straight drag up to the Castlemorton common turning a gentle climb. This was concerned we were going all the way to the top but a assured him we weren’t but as we turned it said road closed but how closed was it well it didn’t take long to find out very closed so we took a diversion up on to the road we had just climbed up and retraced our step back to the main road where we dropped down past the Robin Hood inn back on track now through Castlemorton to Birtsmorton and upper pendock, Brian and David now pulling along it wasn’t long before pendocj cross was behind us and Chris leaving us to drop through Bridgend back to Apperley the rest now seemed to make the push for home Brian had gapped us but we had him in our sights by Staunton Cross only for him and David to pull away again just before the club Where everyone was back safe and sound with Aileen and Di having been on a little longer ride but seemed to enjoy it. Tea and a biscuit was very welcome as we sat in the sun.

Thanks to everybody who helped out today especially Ken who meticulously washed all the cups up.

Yellow leader.
