Ride 531 Sunday 6th April 2025

LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 531 Sunday 6th April 2025.

First ride in April and with the evening rides starting Tuesday evening at 6pm it really did feel winter was behind us, so with the sun shining but a chill in the air as I arrived at the club Garmin less as I couldn’t get it to fire up this morning. Lots of you thought it was a lovely morning for a ride, so we had a Sporty an Advanced and an Advanced steady and the intermediate with a coffee stop and a scenic so something for everyone, so after missing last week the sound of a steady Advanced was just perfect and I was joined by Gary, Maggie, Ken, Bryan, David and Julie who had already ridden over.

We followed the faster Advanced up Corse Lawn to Longreen and into Tewkesbury over the Mythe. Out on the Bredon rd to the Northway turning where we crossed the M5 for the first time, and for a change wound our way through Northway emerging opposite Tewkesbury school where we took the cycle path down to the Walton Cardiff lane a quite lane after the busy roads leading here. We crossed the M5 for the second time and a third before passing the golf course and luckily emerging the right side of the closed road so we pushed on to Stoke Orchard where for the 4th time over the M5 before we turn for the fifth time over the M5 to the Gloucester old spot a busy road to cross but we all managed it without too much grief in to Boddington lane and the Easterly wind pushing us along I’ve had some hard rides up this stretch but not today but the Gloucester old road was closed to cars but we managed to get through and in to Bamfurlong lane past Staverton airport looking splendid in the sunshine and the sixth crossing of the M5 leading us to Badgeworth lane where we said goodbye to David as we turned in to Churchdown and the seventh crossing of the M5 into Parton lane and Innsworth lane past the Imjim Barracks into Frogfurlong lane where I was amazed at the speed of the housing developments along the lane housing now half way along it and more on the way. Hatherley lane and up the main road to Norton and the love key dry Wainloads lane dropping down by the river glistening in the sunshine. We said goodbye to Ken who was nearly home and couldn’t be tempted by a malted milk. We turned along the Ham once again the wind helping us along to Ashleworth and the Lawn road and back along the main rd to the club. We were last back and everyone else was leaving but we had a brew and a chat before heading home. Thanks for some great company, and a bice ride.

See you all next week.

Yellow leader.
