LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 533 Sunday 20th May 2025
A chilly start after the last few weeks but the sun was out and it would warm up, with it being Easter Sunday I wasn’t sure who would turn up but I should have not worried the cat park was full, Spanish Alan was home and out, Claire was joining us again so was Adrian meaning we had some really good group sizes. The sporty boys led us away then Steve leading a sporty ride at advanced pace leaving the rest of us to do the Advanced with Di Aileen and Adrian on the scenic.
We were off the 3 groups all making there way to Redmarley Gary getting caught in Steve’s group realising up the first hill to the Downhouse and soon dropped back to our group which was being driven along by Adrian, when we had climbed up into Redmarley any feelings of being cold we’re gone and soon Bromsberrow was behind us and in Dymock Stuart and Julie were outside the pub waiting for us as we turned up to Kempley, it was here that the sporty boys passed us and Adrian who had been twitchy on the front shot off after them meaning our speed dropped slightly but now very comfortable through to Much Marcle and Watery lane just below Weston’s, a lumpy streatch of road and just below Woolhope Steve’s group caught and passed us at which Stuart shot off after them leaving our group with 7 winding our way through to little Marcle and soon the bottom of Ledbury where the climbing started up to the cross road at the top of town and then up to cut throat lane where Ken decided it was time to shed a layer and try and eat his energy bar which is never an easy task but with pocket full of coat and mouth full of bar we were off again and the terrible road down to Eastnor which seemed very busy but not as busy as we were going to be with Holybush ahead of us, the wind had died down and the sun was out so it didn’t seem too bad and soon we were on the decent to Rye cross where we regrouped and pushed on through Caners green to cooks lane Gary and Julie setting a good pace leading us through to Pendock. Now the push for home was on and soon we said goodbye to Ken at the cross before we got back for a cup of tea, with Steve’s group shortly joining us and even Frank had been out for a solo ride, so everybody was sat outside in the sun enjoying a natter which is great and very important so everybody gets to meet everybody else.
Thanks to everyone who rode and helped out today a great day in the saddle.
Yellow leader.
