LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 364 Sunday 4th April 2021. First ride after lockdown. I will start by saying what a nice feeling to wake up and feel the excited nervousness of a club ride, but I expect most of you were feeling the same, it seems a long time since we all rode out as a group. 4 rides were billed and what a good turn out considering it was Easter Sunday, no one taking up the scenic ride but the others were well supported. This would be a good week for everyone to gauge their fitness and make sure they were choosing the right ride as I think we all feel we are a little fitter than maybe we actually are. This week saw Adrian Mitra ride with the club for the first time in 12 months, Di turned up in a Lovely knitted Gillet, one which would match Owens Knitted gloves, in perfect Leadon vale blue. It was also good to welcome back an very good friend and founding nember of the club Hullsie and his son in law Conrad. 4 in the Sporty group as they left the club, Followed by Naggie doing the Advanced group which would split and see Adrian, Rob and May Fuller break away leaving Hullsie,Conrad, Brucie, Di and myself all on the Intermediate. Today’s rides were to see the Daffodils around Newent, so we headed out to Hooks lane and into Kent’s green and wound our way through to Judges lane where a gentle climb up to the Glasshouse inn it was here that Brucie nearly lost a back wheel the skewer came looose undone with his shoe and he and Conrad putting that right as we came round the corner, Hullsie now finding his climbing legs and as we stopped for a photo the Sporty Gang past us. We climbed on up through the woods to Cliffords Meanz where Adrian and the advanced advanced party overtook us, then it was downhill into Newent , checking everyone was ok we took on the climb up to Oxenhall and on to the lovely downhill road into Dymock the views stunning and the Daffodils in the woods although affected by the frost slightly were looking just passed there best but the woods were full of them, and just to say that there is a section on Country File tonight on the Daffodil triangle from Dymock. Crow field Kane into Bromsberrow and Albright lane leading us through to Egg Tump and back onto the 417 past the Rose and Crown back to the club being passed by the advanced advanced group on the climb up to the Downhouse. Back at the club and everyone got back safely it was only Frank who decided that another puncture club would be suitable on such a sunny day. Thanks to everyone who rode and made it such an enjoyable day, and along with the Tuesday day ride the Tuesday and Friday evening rides start this week leaving at 6pm, please feel free to join us. Yellow leader.
