LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 365 Sunday 11th April 2021Well that was a cold one, but the sun was out and the temperature rising so we were on and it was good to see so many of you at the club, and there was an added incentive to finish today’s rides as Mat Fuller had donated a box of chocolate for after, when I say donated, I mean bribed you all to sponsor him, this crazy man has undertaken to ride 175 miles in 1 day so he would be very pleased if you could spare a few quid, it has to be worth it as that seems a long way to me. Today’s rides led us into Worcestershire a reasonably flat ride, but we got some lovely views of the snow clad Malverns.9.30 and off we went, a good group of 5 on the Sporty ride, Maggie leading an Advanced then Ken, David and Sue on an Advanced Lite and the rest of us on the Intermediate, Di leading Chas and Conrad out the rest of us Me Brucie and Kieron who was back on his first Club ride for a while waited for Dave who was running late but arrived all flustered so I didn’t like to ask why, until I plucked up courage later and he had forgot his helmet, so once he got organised we were off in pursuit and in Pendock we were all together again Dave looking less flustered and Hullsie looking a little under dressed I hadn’t noticed he had no gloves and a gapping gap in the rear and his cycle trousers looked like they were cutting off the blood supply to somewhere, Cindy were your cycle clothes a little big on your ride, I think the washing got muddled up, so on we rode through to Upton upon Severn through the town over the bridge and out through Rhyall and through the beautiful if a little damp village of Uckington where I gave Chas my waterproofs and gloves so he warmed up a little as we passed the Hilton hotel Puckrup where the golf course was extremely busy, crossing the A38 into Church lane we were joined by the Advanced Lite which split our ride leaving Conrad me and Chas to ride home alone. It was while riding home I realised how much I had missed riding with Hullsie. We took a slight detour on the way home so we were back at the club as the Advanced Lite got back there seemed to be a bit of panic as to if there was enough chocolate but I believe everybody got a share which was very much appreciated after what started out as a very cold ride and finished with a hail shower. I followed this for 30 miles and I just want to say that I’m very proud to say at last I have stopped the bag from swinging.
