Ride 376 Sunday 27th June 2021

LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 376 Sunday 27th June 2021. With the bike back it was good to be out again after a short break away and it was so good to see you all out. Today’s rides was a lumpy little number one we usually ride in the other direction, so with the groups organised and both groups having good numbers we were off out on the 417 towards Ledbury the Sporty ride disappearing into the distance and us with Terry at the helm steering us at a good pace through to Cammers green where we passed Steve and the sporty group mending a puncture so as we turned into Albright lane and the wind behind us we made swift progress through to Bromsberrow it was here that when crossing the M50 on the Ryton rd that we turned and took a narrow lane covered in sand in the middle of it and long grass on the sides which made cycling very interesting but we finally emerged on Beach lane and once again the topic of conversation turned to the Euros and what they thought of England’s performance so far, some of it I can’t repeat but I think they are excited for the German game as long as there are no penalties. That past some time away as we crossed Greenway crossroads then over the Leominster rd and climbed up to the letter box field by the wind turbine overlooking Much Macle and up to Kempley Green Queens wood and then undulating road towards Oxenhall this is where the Sporty group passed us with Wayne urging them on saying he had to be home by 1 o’clock so they shot past and we entered Newent and started the climb up Watery lane past the birds of prey centre where it was nice to see cars in the car park after a long closure, into Clifford’s Mesne and a little down hill to the yew tree turning then the road climbed again along the side of May Hill before dropping down to the Glasshouse and taking Judges lane down to the Newent rd and on to Taynton and the gentle downhill stretch to Tibberton with David enjoying his freedom with his Garmin now working and showing him the route while Terry looked after us leading us through the busy stretch to Highleadon and park rd and around past Hartpury college being passed by the sporty ride again to the 417 which seemed very busy to Hiams lane, and a steep climb up to the old Rising sun pub which has long closed, replaced by some fine looking houses. Hartpury old rd down to Hartpury and into Ashleworth where we lost Frank and Rob both deciding the cup of tea wasn’t that attractive having passed by their front gate, but we pushed on Terry once again bringing us home on a very busy 417 but we got back safely to a very welcome cup of tea. Thanks Terry who towed us around all the way and then having to ride home, and to everyone who rode today and helped out. Yellow leader.
