LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 379 Sunday 25th July 2021. A bit cooler than last week which was good for a group of hilly rides this week out into the beautiful countryside. 9.30 and we were off with the sporty ride shooting off into the distance me Ken and David trying to keep up with Terry’s group until Middleton lane where Frank had Punctured so in true club spirit we stopped and helped him back on his way only he was none too confident in our repair so he decided to return home to investigate further. While we continued on through Tibberton and Kents green and crossing the Newent road and up the climb through the black currant fields and the smell of ripening currants filled the air as we dropped down we were passed by the sporty ride being led along by Wayne who looked like he was on a mission, or something good for dinner , then up to Clifford’s Meanse and the very steep climb up to the start of oak lane well I say lane most of it had been washed away so it was with great caution we descended to the Aston Ingham rd where we then climbed up to the Penny Farthing inn and on to the start of the Linton Ridge a road we ride quite often and the views never disappoint only I had a job to focus as the sweat was dripping in my eyes but a brief spell of downhill soon sorted that and we pushed on to Gorsley and started the climb on to Kempley ridge and more spectacular views and even a glimpse of Bayley doing his morning chores as we’d sped past on the lovely downhill stretch into Kempley. Queens wood behind us and through Dymock woods to Dymock and Crowfield lane to Ryton where we passed through Bromsberrow and around Albright lane back on familiar roads which soon passed by emerging at Pendock and back to the club on the main road to a well earned cup of tea. A few of the other rides had waited for us and we’re entertained by the youngsters playing cricket. Thanks to everyone who rode and helped out today. Yellow Leader.
