Ride 382

LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 382 Sunday 15th August 2021.This weeks group of rides would take us out into Worcestershire, a group of rides which take in some beautiful villages on the way. Three good groups left, an advanced ride doing the sporty route, an Advanced ride and I joined two David’s and Colin on the intermediate ride. We were off and the the skies were clear and brisk breeze blew us through Tirley and along through Chaceley and on to Forthampton where we shared the road with a lot of scooters leaving the lower loade on their way home. Bushley and the views as we crested the hill by the cricket ground looking all the way over where we were riding followed by a great downhill to the main road. Over the Mythe bridge and out of Tewkesbury on the Bredon road turning and over the M5 into Grange road , Yellow Leader owning up that he had gone off course a schoolboy error mixing the Advanced ride with the intermediate but everyone was ok with the detour as we turned to Aston cross and around Seven bends to the busy Bishops Cleeve road before we said good bye to David who left us to ride home after riding to the club. Back on the lanes on Bozard lane which took us through to Tredington. The other rides would loop out through Beckford and make their way through to Gotherington and then on the same ride home as us. We were well on our way home taking another detour to make up for the earlier error and we decided to go through Deerhurst and a trip down to see Oddas Chaple and personally the first time I had ever been down there I’m sure Brucie who was probably still suffering from a little night time activity with Mat and a bottle of Malt, would have filled us in on the history of this chapel and may be the importance of Odda. Highly enjoyable detour with Daves tale of a giant turtle living in a ditch he found while exercising his two cockers, and Frank telling us a tale of a lady who got stuck in the mud down there for many hours before getting rescued and another tale about saving someone from a canal which had us all going but turned out to be a very funny joke. Colin reminding me of the sizzling steaks served at the Coal house Inn just along the river bank. Up the hill out of Deeerhurst into Apperley past the cricket club then back over Hawbridge Tirley and Colin dropping off in Staunton we got back first to make the tea. It wasn’t long before everyone was back safely and refreshed after enjoying another lovely ride. I hope everyone enjoyed today as much as I did and looking forward to next week. Yellow leader.
