Leadon vale cycle club ride 385 Sunday 5th September 2021.I was ‘voluntold’ by Adrian to hold the pen for this ride, so here goes.Perfect cycling weather for ride 385, enjoyed by a somewhat depleted attendance of ColinTerryAdrianMatt and myself. With most of the backroads North and West closed for the Three Shires rally we ventured via Corse Lawn, only to be halted temporarily at the A38 for a ladies cycle race. We zig/zagged through the lanes to Castle Morton Common where the ladies race passed across our line, now on lap 2, but prior to this Matt had already ventured ahead on an alternative route. Welland, Upton and Uckinghall were soon behind us as Matt want through on one of his three passes (either that, or he has a doppelganger). It was about this point that Adrian and Terry highlighted my infectious personality which prompted complete strangers to gesticulate and pass comment on my road positioning. Puckrup, Twyning and Mythe (& Matt passed us again), Colin and myself were just about hanging onto Terry and Adrian before Forthampton and along the Ham where some members from Swindon CC passed opposite. Adrian peeled off at Ashelworth but not before falling victim of miss-identity by a member of Eastgate CC at The Hub (I know this becasue I work with the guy and Adrian apparently looks like Ralph). A quick chat before joining Terry back at the club and he taking full advantage of the offer of a box of Wispa Duo’s. But don’t worry folks, I have another 20 box’s to shift. Customary photo (minus Matt) – all smiles for what we all agreed was a perfect ride, a few jokes and banter. Hopefully see more of you next week. TRUANT
