LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 404 Sunday 13th March 2022..
Back after a bit of man flu and really feeling so out of touch physically, so I was a bit nervous as I rode to the club into a very strong headwind. But it was great to be out again and as a club we got 2 rides in consecutive weeks which is good and the good news was it was considerably milder than of late.
We huddled in the club before the off out of the wind but we couldn’t put it off any longer so we left a sporty, a sporty lite And 2 intermediates Adrian and Mat pushing on leaving us to follow on at the rear. The good news was that the strong wind seemed a side wind and tail wind as we headed to Tirley and Forthampton crossing in to the Green street and passing Bushley cricket ground before being buffeted by crosswinds on the downhill stretch to Bushley village. Tewkesbury and now pushing on to Bredon and Kemerton where we turned into Church lane taking us into the headwind to Ashchurch and on around Seven bends to the A435 a very busy stretch of road before turning off on Bozard lane towards Tredington which is where we said goodbye to David, and now out of the wind progress was swift through Tredington to the dual carriageway, an arduous stretch into a fierce headwind but relief when we turned and made our way through Deerhurst, all the flooding now gone like my legs feeling a little fragile as we climbed up into Apperley passing Chris out mowing his lawn in the sun. We said goodbye to Maggie at Tirley Crossroads but we pressed on up Tirley pitch and back to the club led by Frank. That seemed tough today and the thought that the tour is only 8 weeks away is a little scary. Mat had supplied a box of chocolate bars which were very much appreciated on our return.
Great to see everybody out today not ideal conditions but at least as I said it was warmer.
Yellow leader.
