Ride 405 Sunday 20th March 2022

LEASON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 405 Sunday 20th March 2022.

Today I felt liberated, no leg warmers, but had I made the right decision? It didn’t feel like it as I rode to the club but the sun was out just a chilly wind. There was a good turn out this morning the sporty group was well supported a faster Advanced group and then our Advanced group 6 of us, many riding the intermediate but stepping up to the advanced.

With the urn on and the clock ticking over to 9.30 we were off, it was great to be cycling with Terry today who was joining us for a change and he led us away along the 417 to Redmarley and the climb up to the village certainly warmed the legs up and I wasn’t the only one with the legs out Chris and David had as well. On to Bromsberrow and turning around Crowfield lane, Terry setting a lovely pace through to Dymock and then the busy well busier road than usual I think down to the daffodil trail this weekend in Kempley where we were heading, the views as we turned in Kempley and dropped down to Kempley green were fantastic the views were as clear as we have seen for a while the sun was out and a little warmth could be felt on our backs , we then climbed up to the letter box field past the large wind turbine that can, as I found out this morning, be seen from the club in the distance. Dropping down to Much Marcle and crossing the road towards Weston’s before turning down watery lane towards Kynaston the roads were undulating typical of this area but the chat was good and the views rewarding. The the downhill, the infamous corner that did for Brucie a few years ago, not only has it got gravel on it it’s now full of pot holes as well for a bit of extra excitement I half expected to see Chris and Dave in the hedge but all was well and we pushed on once again Terry leading us through to Little Marcle and the bottom of Ledbury where now we had a bit of climbing to contend with, firstly up through town to the market house then out on the Malvern rd and a little lane taking us off the busy main rd emerging just before the Eastnor junction, passed the Castle on one of the worst roads we ride on rough and uneven and now with traffic lights on, but with that stretch behind us it was on to Holybush Terry once again pacing me and Doc Mike up to the top, but on the way down there was an accident involving a farm vehicle and a vintage car I do hope everybody is ok, we just managed to squeeze through as I didn’t fancy going back up. Cammers green and Cooks lane saying goodbye to Dave leaving 5 of us to return to the club behind Terry.

Tea was made and apart from Roberts tyre exploding as his bike leant against the wall all was good in the world.

As I understand it Richard Dorman and his wife having left London have made it to Yorkshire on their way to Scotland and beyond maybe some one could give us an exact update but I’m sure that on behalf of everyone I wish them a safe journey.

Yellow leader.
