LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 411 Sunday 8th May 2022.
Well the week before tour and everybody wondering if they have done enough training and today is the last Sunday ride before we go so it was nice to see Rob Frank and Alice off early on the sporty ride and I think the rest did the Advanced or made it up. It was great to welcome Daryl and Colin back out and they decided to tag on the back of the Advanced ride. So with Frank and Alice and Rob off we all seemed to leave together out on the 417 and at the bottom of the Downhouse hill Adrian took the ride along towards Lowbands which was wrong and Colin , Daryl and myself continued up the hill and on towards Redmarley while the others turned and caught us up, it became clear us 3 were not going to keep up with the group so we dropped off the back but continued at a good pace through to Bromsberrow and Greenway cross and around the rather crumbling lanes of Leadington where we stopped for a drink overlooking the tv aerial mast on the ridge the patchwork of yellow fields now glistening in the sunshine made for a spectacular view, refreshed and Daryl now telling me this was his first ride for about 3 years he was doing really well as it had been a bit lumpy but he was still there. Out on to the main road and past the rugby club now starting the gentle climb up to the cross roads in Ledbury where we went straight over and found Knapp lane which took us up to cut throat lane where Daryl and Colin decided to head for home through Eastnor and clenchers mill, I decided to push on and complete the Advanced ride so feeling like Colin no mates I pushed on putting my Wayne and Owen training into practice, which I can highly recommend on Tuesday and Friday evenings, I made good progress through the tree lined lanes with a soaring red kite for company I was soon Turing for Mathon a beautiful old village which seems to be in a very sought after area, most of the old houses now being or have been renovated, whichever I was soon through past west Malvern cricket ground and feeling good so I pushed on and before you knew it I was in Colwall and dreading the rough road to come but once over the lights on the bridge it was clear that the road had been resurfaced so a smooth ride out to the main Malvern road. Downhill now and time to get my breath back but in the distance the carrot I needed Ken and Maggie so a quick spurt on and they were caught before Eastnor so I pushed on knowing they would catch me on Holybush. Down to the bottom and back to the club through Pendock it was nice to have a bit of company. The tea was made which was a bonus.
With tour next week there will be no club rides on Sunday, and I would like to wish every one a good tour.
Also Tuesday evening ride is off back on on Friday evening.
Thanks
Yellow Leader.
