LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 412 Sunday 22nd May 2022..
Yesterday Mat Fuller and a group of fund raisers did what I thought was impossible and rode 200 miles in 1 day 201.4 to be exact in 14 moving hours. This was a monumental achievement and one I don’t think will be beaten so well done Mat and all the group.
Today’s group of rides are thanks to Maggie and the Tuesday group, they introduced me one Tuesday to some roads I had never ridden or even knew about and I wanted to share them, and from the response when we got back I think they were a success.
Today I encouraged the intermediate riders who hadn’t ridden for a while to join us and I was joined by Dave Hulbert, Dave Anslow, Daryl, Colin and Rob. The sporty ride was looking like it was just Bob but luckily Rob and Wayne turned up and to keep him company, the rest join Maggie on the Advanced.
We were off around around Orridge street, Middleton lane and into Newent and up Watery lane turning right into Conigree lane a new lane to me one I had. Ever been up bringing us out by the Kilcot and a short diversion off the busy main rd we were soon crossing into Aston Ingham and the undulating roads through to Barrel lane, a narrow lane running under May hill a road as i said introduced to me by the Tuesday crew and even second time it didn’t disappoint, and after a little pull the roads took a downhill turn and we emerged on the A40 but only for a short distance before we turned into Church lane through Longhope, we were all on the the same run home now as we crossed the Longhope road into Velthouse lane another narrow lane but winding us through below Blaisdon court to Blaisdon and down through the village on a newly resurfaced road doing away with the usual pothole filled road we worked our way through a rabbit warren of lanes to Northwood Green and Chapel lane to the A40 and now into Bulley lane undulating through to Tibberton it was on this stretch the sporty group passed us, but we were all doing very well, Dave must have had something come loose on his bike as at one stage he complained about some nuts or something but it didn’t stop him pressing on through Tibberton and it was only the sight of 2 heavy horses pulling a trolly that hindered our progress back to the club where the sporty group had made the tea. It wasn’t long before all the others were home and enjoying a brew.
Thanks to everyone who rode today and all the intermediate group plucking up courage to turn out again and join me on what I think is possibly my new favourite ride.
Yellow leader.
