Leadon Vale cycle club ride 434 Sunday 1st January 2023.
Happy new year to you all, I’m glad we decided to ride today I wasn’t sure how many would venture out what with hangovers, family commitments and holidays, but 8 turned out and joined me. We decided to do just the one ride the advanced, and we were led away by Andrew and David with Terry sitting on their tail so I knew this wasn’t going to be slow. With the strong wind blowing us along Andrew and David chatting on the front Corse Lawn was soon behind us and the climb up to Longreen sorted the men from the boys and we had a bit of chasing to do to Longdon, what we hadn’t realised is that Alan Metherall had punctured at the start of the common and no one realised, it all seemed a bit easy, and looking at the trees blowing I’m thinking we are going to pay for this soon, but the pace remained strong through Upton the roads were quite as we crossed the bridge to Rhyall and on to Strencham this is where David sage and myself reverted to the intermediate ride leaving the others to head out towards Pershore , we rode through Strensham village along the
Antes now feeling the full strength of that wind buffeting us as we passed the gateways, there was lot of water on the roads as we dropped in to Twinning, through church lane and over the Mythe bridge we were now on the route home the same as the Advanced ride. Thankfully that wind was more of a side wind as we passed Bushley on the drag to the Forhampton turning, but once we turned we were back into a full head on wind again Chaceley and once again a respite as we climbed up to the common again and now back to the club with David and I taking it in turns at the front and deciding to take the Straight lane home.
Gill was also out on the scenic ride, she joined us for a brew and it wasn’t long before Andrew then the others and Alan were home safe..
Thanks everyone who rode.
Yellow leader.
