LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 438 Sunday 5th February 2023.
Without sounding like a 70’s pop group it was 3 degrees out side the car windscreen was froze but the clincher was that the bird bath wasn’t so we were on but it did feel a bit chilly. David beat me to the club this morning, it’s always nice to see you keen, so on opening the club the footballers had left the heating up and it was lovely and warm in there and after putting the urn on I thought it’s going to be a job to get them out of here, but I did and it was great to see so many turn up on this bright chilly morning. Andre’s and Bob were going to do the Advanced but ended up riding the sporty, Wayne had bought along his good friend David from Melbourne, we’ve not had many travel further to ride we made him welcome and along with Steve and Michael they were riding the Advanced leaving David, Ken, David Chris and myself riding the Intermediate.
Leaving the club Bob and Andrew pushed on but the rest of us ride to Tewkesbury as a group only for us to get left behind waiting for the lights at the Mythe and we never saw them again, David Price seemed strong today pulling us along for many a mile sometimes we struggled to keep on his tail, through Bredon and out over the Avon on the Eccington rd the pace remained strong, to the Pershore rd where the other rides rode into Pershore before climbing up to Croome Court and back onto Upton, we turned to Strensham and for the first time the pace eased a little but not for long as we dropped down to Rhyall and through Upton and up Tunnell Hill, it was here Chris took the lead and he led us all the way to Longdon at a good pace into Bear lane where the long drag there had taken its toll on my legs so a little bit of riding at the rear for a while sorted that and it wasn’t long before we were chasing David Price along Longdons Marsh and that man wasn’t for catching but I knew he hadn’t go the route so we caught him at the Birtsmorton junction, where kens huge intake of fluids had taken its toll, and a quick comfort stop meant we were through Ryecross and now on the road to Pendock and once again David setting a hot pace with the rest in his slip stream, Gadfield Elm and the club was soon in our sight, where the Scenic group had already got home Di and Gill were joined by Adrian making a comeback after an injury so hopefully the scenic ride is growing slowly, the tea was made and soon everyone was home safely in the warm sunshine.
Thanks everybody who rode and helped out it feels like a little bit of Spring is trying to push through.
Yellow leader.
