Ride 444 Sunday 19th March 2023

LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 444 Sunday 19th March 2023.

A sunny start greeted us at the club on this Mothering Sunday so numbers were slightly down, but 6 on the Sporty ride and me Ken and David on the Advanced. As we left the club we gathered Chris at the turning into Orridge Street so now the 4 of us would be a good group. With the sporty boys shooting off into the distance we pushed on up Middletown lane and then turning left towards Highleadon with sporty group bearing down on us and passing Steve and Wayne tagged on the back of us down the main road to Tibberton then passing us and David nearly followed them up past the church in Tibberton but our route took us through Kents Green and straight over the Newent rd and up a very steep hill between the black currant fields over a cattle grid before ending up in Clifford’s Mesne plenty of people out walking which is what I nearly did up chapel pitch only to get to the top and David mentioned his heart rate was only about 103. Oak lane and the slow decent down to the Aston Ingham road Chris was on fire pulling us all along up to the Penny Farthing Inn we then took the road along the Linton Ridge past the Alma Inn emerging in Gorsley. Now past the golf course and up onto the Kempley ridge and the the nice decent into Kempley where the roads were full of parked cars everybody out on the daffodil walks, it was really busy and as we passed through Queens wood the daffs were looking superb they lined the roads and hedges all the way to Dymock and beyond Crowfield lane was very colourful as well, and we were all hoping that the 3 bitches were not at the end of this ride and thankfully they weren’t we crossed the main rd into Albright Lane Chris still pulling us along. Soon Cooks lane was behind us and in Pendock we headed home David suffering a bit of cramp before Gadfield Elm but it wasn’t long before we were all home only to find the sporty boys had beat us which meant the tea was made we were followed by Steve and Wayne .

That was a great ride it will be called the Daffodil ride from now on, I hope you all enjoyed it .

Thanks to everyone who rode.

Yellow leader.
