Ride 454 Sunday 11th June 2023

LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 454 Sunday 11th June 2023.

With Di doing a write up for the scenic ride, thanks Di, we know that ride is alive and kicking and I’m sure Di would welcome anyone who is looking to start cycling again or wants to start cycling.

Two rides left at 9.30 with only Alan and Andrew on the sporty ride and the rest riding the Advanced and with Wayne batting for 35 overs yesterday probably his longest time at the crease he wanted a gentle ride so Wayne and Steve shot off the front of our ride, leaving the club it was The usual way away from the club Dobbs hill and on to cooks lane and heading through to Klenchers Mill and the ford over the road all our group taking to the footpath over the Ford it came to my attention that Wayne ended up taking a dunk in the ford blaming the crack in the concrete, well whatever it was he had a wet ar*e for the rest of the ride. Eastnor looking splendid in the sunshine now it was time to climb to the Malvern road and the worst section of road we ride it has a bit of everything, but with Maggie setting a good pace it wasn’t long before we had crossed the Malvern rd and we’re heading up the climb on the other side of the Malverns, the muggy feeling to the morning made for hazy views across to the British camp, then we turned up to Wellington Heath the long slog up to the view point at the top for a quick refreshment stop before pushing on to Raycome lane this is where I fell off after years ago so it bought back some memories, an undulating lane leading into Coddington where a piece of tree managed to wedge itself into Franks brakes, so we stopped to see what was wrong and after pulling half a tree out of his brakes, Frank said he saw it but didn’t twig it, I came out with, you will get some stick for that Frank to which David replied are you two branching out into comedy, a funny couple of minutes while we caught the others up.

Bosbury next and the road through the village was a little rougher this year more potholes and repairs before we turned into lower Southfield lane back to Hollow lane and Munsley more lanes leading us out onto the Hereford road just above the Trumpet, we followed the busy road through to Falcon lane and Lilly hall lane and Leddington Frank setting a good pace surly the push got home hadn’t started already but I think he had noticed the building thunder clouds. Saying goodbye to Julie at Greenway cross roads we pushed on up through Bromsberrow Heath and on to the Redmarley rd and the 3 bitches up into Redmarley with the rain starting we headed down red ditch lane and out on the 417 back to the club with Frank now on the push for home being pushed along by Maggie and Stewart and Maggie stealing the lead just before the club.

A great ride we didn’t get too wet I think it dried before it got you wet, and the sporty ride were sat out the back on the benches having a tea.

Thanks to all who rode and helped out today

Yellow Leader.
