LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 464 Sunday 27th August 2023.
Wow how fantastic to see so many of you out this morning on the Brucie hits the Pole ride, only as I’m writing this Brucie is probably hitting a bottle or 2 at Wayne’s daughters wedding, at least the Poles are safe.
There was a sporty ride a slow sporty and an advanced ride this morning and the scenic out at 10.30. We all left the club and rode into a headwind which we would seemingly have with us the first half of the ride, straight up the 417 making use of the newly resurfaced road to Redmarley and by the time we had got up to the village both sporty groups had passed us but that was ok the 4 of us Maggie,Julie , Chris and myself settled down and pushed on through Crowfield lane to Dymock and the Kempley rd upon to the village where we took a right and dropped down passing St Mary’s Church before climbing up past a wind turbine which was making a bit of a squealing noise as if it needed oiling but it was spinning well generating a bit of power, but that would drive me mad if I lived by it. On towards Much Marcle where we could see a storm blowing along the Marcle ridge which we only managed to get a few spots as we turned along Watery lane just below Weston’s Cider and now the undulating roads through Rushall and Kynaston with pot holes and patched up roads making progress interesting but we soon emerged and crossed the Hereford rd into Little Marcle which we followed gladly with a tailwind pushing us through to Ledbury and we climbed up into town emerging by the Market house where there was a lot of traffic at the lights but soon we were on the climb out of town up the little lane to Cutthroat lane and on to the Eastnor Junction. Now the worst decent we know a nice decent just a bad road surface down to the castle and past a the Mountain bike riding championship, which wasn’t too busy as we prepared to climb up Holybush the wind now pushing us up the hill and hardly stopping at the top and a fast decent down to Rye cross, the cheeky little pull up to the Camers green rd, I think we could smell the teapot as the pace increased and a busy Cooks Lane was soon behind us and with a tailwind along the Pendock road we were soon back at the club where the scenic and the Sporty boys were home the sporty slow were still out there but the club was full a really pleasing sight, we were soon joined by the sporty slow and Adrian on his mountain bike.
Thanks to everyone who ride and helped out today.
Yellow leader.
