Todays rides main aim was to avoid the floods and the busy roads acting as diversions which none on my lists did so I created 4 new rides which fitted the bill.

It was a bit chilly but the bird bath was ice free so we were on and it was good that Brian from Tibberton was back out and David had a new bike he was proudly displaying, so Me Maggie David and Brian would be on the Advanced Andy and Bob off on a sporty sporty and Steve and Wayne on a Sporty and DiGill and Adrian were out later on the Scenic.

We were off and yes it was a bit chilly but as we climbed Gadfield elm that certainly warmed us up for the climb up in to Redmarley and now the sun was out we were warmed up and all was good as we passed through Bromsberrow and on to Greenway crossroads, this stretch was not without incident, as we dropped down to the Dymock road David pointed out 2 Dears not sure if there is a posh name for 2 Dears like a brace, or anything but I was lucky as one had crossed the road behind David and in front of me only for it to realise it couldn’t get through the hedge so it turned and ran back across the road and just missed me which was a bit scary at the time. But at Greenway we turned towards Preston Cross a stretch of road we don’t ride very often and David pointed out it’s better ride the other way as it’s downhill but it was quiet, the sun was out so all was good. Straight over the roundabout and around Little Marcle road emerging at the bottom of Ledbury and a drag up bought us out by the market place. Now we started the climb out of Ledbury taking the little side road up to the Eastnor junction and David now looking forward to the rough bit of road on his new gravel bike hoping the experience would smooth off this section down to the castle, I just followed all the way to the bottom of Holybush and that new bike set a good steady pace, as Maggie shot passed us, we just plodded on the first time this year we had climbed Holybush and it felt a little steeper than I remembered but we regrouped and descended down and followed the Tewkesbury road right through to Longreenthen up the Hill to Corse Lawn the wind was now on our tail and the sun actually had a bit of warmth in it as we turned at China cross for a little wiggle over Tirley Knowel probably the closest we got to the floods back along the Tirley road to the Worcester road and back to the club.

A good cup of tea made and Di, Gill and Adrian were back followed by Steve and Wayne then the others.

I counted them out and I counted them back again, it was so nice to be out and it not raining so the cold toes and fingers was a small price to pay.

Hope to see you all Friday.

Yellow leader.
