LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 483 Sunday 28th January 2024.
Almost felt spring like as I rode to the club which was endorsed by Alan riding in his shorts saying he has had shorts on in Cornwall when it’s been colder, so pulling up my snood and 2 pairs of gloves we were off, good numbers out today 6 on the Advanced, 3on the sporty and 5 on the Advanced with me.
We were spoilt on the ride up Corse Lawn what wind there was was pushing us along at a decent pace, Gary had joined us after missing a few rides along with Maggie, Brian and Adrian. The road Fromm Longreen through Longdon and on to Tunnel hill was really quiet Hary and Maggie setting the pace enjoying catching up, we dropped down onto Upton Upon Severn and over the bridge to Ryall, and off the main road all the way up to Strencham it was here we turned towards home and suddenly realised how the wind had got up and how we have to ride into it all the way home, but for now we were through the lanes to Twinning and Church lane before the climb up the Mythe the sun was out so maybe Alan’s idea of shorts wasn’t such a daft idea, maybe we all got it wrong. Over the Severn and with Brian setting the pace through to Forthampton and a little loop to Chaceley church and then back up on to Corse Lawn, we set off back to the club steadily but Brian has made a break for home so with Maggie and Gary missing the break Adrian decided to chase him down which he did with great gusto and I just went along for the ride watching Brian gradually being pulled in and by the time we passed the straight lane we were on his tail along under the scramble track to the Barn lane and home. With the brew on Maggie and Gary rolled in followed by the Scenic, Di joined by her son Stuart, Gill, Adrian and Ken. It wasn’t long before the Advanced were back having been chased by the sporty for the last few miles, and what a lovely surprise to see Terry join us for brew and a chat and I must say looking very fit.
It’s not always the hardest or the longest rides that you enjoy it’s the ones when you are out with good company and the sun on your back helps.
Thanks to everyone who rode and helped out today.
Yellow leader.
