LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 496 Sunday 26th May 2924.
The forecast wasn’t good but it wasn’t raining so we were on, and although the forecast was bad and it was bank holiday weekend 7 of us all decided to ride the Intermediate ride so we have cut off places if the heavens did open, meaning no one rode the advanced or sporty so that’s for next week.
Leaving Staunton via Orridge street on the usual route down Blackwell’s end through to Tibberton, all I will say is it was warm with a waterproof on so when Ken stopped for a comfort break that soon came off, and the sun shone but there was always tgat threat in the skies that didn’t make you confident that it was going to remain that way, but through Huntley and back towards Newent to Judges Lane the nicest route up to the Glasshouse where we turned right and climbed up along the side of May Hill towards Clifford’s Meanse, and finally drooping down to Newent. When we got to the old Birds of prey centre we were greeted with a rather large deer in the road who couldn’t seem to get off the road so ran a while to a gap in the hedge. What I hadn’t mentioned is that Alan Metherall was riding a pre 1987 steel bike which he has bought to enable him to ride the Eroica with Richard and Johnny speedway in October, and if you thought it would slow him down we were wrong, he just seemed to sail past and led us into Newent and on down Horsefair lane to Oxenhall and on towards Kempley where the signs were out for the Dymock half marathon, so with care we pushed on turning over the motorway on the lovely road dropping down onto Dymock and it was only here we encountered some Marshall’s but no runners do we didn’t cause any mayhem. Crowfield lane through to Bromsberrow and the 3 climbs up to Redmarley, we regrouped in the village and ride home through a light storm the only rain we saw all ride back to the club.
Thanks to everyone who rode today we did miss the rain as planned and this group of rides will be up again next week as I explained earlier only the intermediate was rode.
See you all next week.
Yellow leader.
