LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 499 Sunday 9th June 2024.
With the late cancellation of peters away day ride which has been rescheduled for the 23rd June with a 10am start time. We were all at the club and 3 rides were on Sporty, Advanced and Ken, myself and Doc on the intermediate. It felt chillier than looked so the arm warmers went on and by the time we were moving I was glad I did turning off corse lawn common towards Chaceley we commented on how windy it was and although it wasn’t hindering us it was gusty blowing us about, then it was along to Forthampton and up the climbs to the main road where we zig zaged over to Greenstreets, the chat was constant and we tripped the speed camera on the drop into Bushley at 29mph so no laws broken. Along to the Mythe and the lights were kind and we crossed on the road, Brendon and on to Kemerton a long drag but the reward was a little trip down my favourite lane where the conversation was anything from cars to viagra so no one can say we don’t cover a wide range of subjects on these rides but it was all good fun, Doc relating stories and as much as we tried Ken didn’t spill any juicy stories so I think without torture we ain’t finding owt out. Seven bends now leading to the very busy rd towards Bishops Cleeve so our small group all together didn’t cause to much of a problem and soon we were into the Bozard lane wondering if the road closed signs really did mean road closed but we pushed on and although a lot of work going on we were through and on to the Odessa and along the cycle path to the light and now towards Apperley a stick headwind do taking turns on the front to ease the pain we were soon saying goodbye to Ken we stayed on the Main rd past Wainloads to Tirley and up the hill with Doc doing the lions share as I had nothing left to offer but soon the club was in sight and to make things better Di Gill, Aileen and Adrian were already back and made us a cup of tea. We were soon joined by the rest who also commented on how hard a ride that was all the way back from Gothetington.
A good chat and another good day in the saddle.
Yellow leader.
