LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 504 Sunday 14th July 2024.
The sun was out for a change after a week away battling the elements it was so nice to see the sun shine on us.
Brucie hits the pole group of rides this week meaning a trip into Herefordshire so with everyone assembled, including Matt, soft hands Andy and a gentleman called Steve from Ashleworth who is recovering from a knee replacement. I was pleased when Ken and Doc suggested an intermediate ride and after a week of chips that was ok with me. David and Micheal doing the advanced and the sporty ride with Andy, Andy and Andy, Matt and Adrian, Andy suffering from a recent bike fit and it is affecting his hamstrings, Matt recovering from the lurgy.
Off we went Steve joining our group as we climbed up onto Redmarley and along Redditch lane into the village and on to the motorway the 3 bitches are certainly more likeable going this way, horsecroft lane to Crowfield lane it was becoming apparent that a lot of car drivers had other things on their mind May be a football match or something because there wasn’t much slowing down and with the overgrown hedgerows it was a bit scary but through Dymock where we picked up Stewart, and followed the Kempley road up into the village then dropping down past the old st Mary’s church then up to the pillar box field junction and now a nice downhill stretch, over the cross roads and on around Leddington through to Ludstock and a quick stretch of main rd to Lilly hall lane and little Marcle.
A wiggle through the bottom of Ledbury bought us out at the top lights which gave us a slight breather before climbing up to the Eastnor junction and the long rough downhill to the castle now infront of us was Holybush, Stewart attacking it from the bottom the rest settled into a rhythm and climbed very well not far behind and then the reward the drop down to Ryecross and back home on the main road through Pendock thinking we were doing really well only to be passed by Andy (soft hands) as if we were stopped in Staunton. We made a pot of tea and it wasn’t many minutes before the sporty boys and the Advanced ride were back Andy Collop walking like John Wayne those hamstrings not good, Owen maybe some stretching exercises needed, Andy Christie had dropped off home. Soon after the scenic we’re home and having been on a slightly longer ride looked as if they could go further.
So nice to have done good company and some sun, long May it continue.
See you all next week,
I think it’s coming home.
Yellow leader.
