LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 554 Sunday 21st Huly 2024.
A perfect morning for riding greeted us and it was so good to see Bob back out after his recovery and he was looking forward to getting back out.
2 good groups left the club the sporty group had some strong riders in it, and everyone else did the Advanced, so as we left the club the sporty group soon pulled away heading through Payford and Redmarley but we would head down Sladbrook lane and on past Staunton mill to Dobbs hill and our usual way through to Rye cross, Gary having a bit of bother with his gears and Kenooding a bit of his cleet which was recovered by David, we wound our way through Castlmorton where the sporty group passed us and we pushed on to lower hook lane, Chris on his new shiny bike setting a good pace along the quiet lane to Clive’s fruit farm just out side Upton where the Blues festival is being held so we didn’t know what to expect but it was busy but passable and the fields on the left over the bridge were full of caravans and campers so I would imagine it was going to get busy, but we turned off around Rhyall and the little loop back to the main road before dropping down into Ripple and the lovely lane through to Puckrup, Church lane and up the Mythe and over the bridge, it was here that we realised that there was a head wind which made the drag up to the Forthampton turning even harder, but we made good time and were rewarded with the drop down to Chaceley Tirley and along the Ham to Ashleworth and we even saw Del who was doing a spot of DIY as we passed to the 417 and back to the club where the sporty group were already home as was Di and the scenic ride.
Thanks to everyone who helped out today it was a nice day in the saddle.
There is a lot of re surfacing of roads taking place this week so if you venture out take care and stay safe.
Yellow leader.
