LEADON VALE CYCLE CLUB RIDE 519 Sunday 10th 2024.
And the sun came out, but more about that later.
Firstly Subs, £15 a year please if you have thanks if you haven’t please do, this is our only income and fantastic value for money.
This weeks rides the sporty and advanced had a red triangle on Garmin a new addition to Garmin highlighting dangers and this week it was showing a danger on Oak lane so a good warning was given before setting off, 2 groups an advanced and an intermediate setting off in the same direction down Orridge street the Advanced group were out of sight now so we pushed on to Middletown lane where at the end Andy Christy was looking for the Advanced or sporty ride so we pointed him in the right direction and pushed on down Hooks Lane to the Newent road it was around this point as we rode up to Kent’s Green that the sun came out and it seemed to transform the long spell of dreary days making the whole ride seem different, we crossed the Newent rd and tackled the steep climb up amongst the blackcurrant trees on our way to Clifford’s Mesne the lower village only the advanced would climb to the upper village and oak lane, we dropped down to Newent psssed the school and wound our way through to Oxenhall Chris had left us I think a Coffee in Newent was on the cards leaving us to climb through to Menpley woods where we dropped down into Dymock with one eye on the clock we got to Dymock with 5 minutes to spare and there wd a remembrance device taking place on the grass infront of the church so we stopped and quietly joined them as they were reading the names of the fallen from the village, quite humbling as some of the surnames were familiar today leading to a minutes silence, all very humbling. Crowfield lane next and it was nice to be riding on dry roads even the mud was dry, we ended in Bromsberrow and turned right at the main Ledbury rd to Albright lane the sun making a welcome addition to our ride as we wound our way via Cooks lane to Pendock cross, now the main rd back to the club Doc repaying the lead home with us all in his slipstream.
Tea was taken on the benches as it was so nice outside not bad for the middle of November. It wasn’t long before everybody was home safely and the hazard down Oak lane was just the condition of the road surface.
Thanks to every one who rode or helped out today.
Yellow leader.
